Messe Frankfurt Japan has announced that the event previously known as Formnext Forum Tokyo has been rebranded to Formnext Asia Tokyo Forum. Focusing on Additive Manufacturing technology and related products and services, the event will be held September 25-26, 2025, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsucho-Kan, Japan.

The event first took place in 2019 as a sister event to Formnext, the international trade fair specialising in AM technology and industrial Additive manufacturing, which is organised annually in Frankfurt, Germany. The Formnext Asia Tokyo Forum is expected to attract some 1,500 visitors over the two-days.

In addition to the exhibition, several seminars will take place featuring industry leaders and exhibitor presentations providing the latest AM information. An ‘Academic’ exhibition area will also be included, enabling professors and university students to introduce their research relating to AM technologies and materials. Within the area, academics can speak directly to user companies about their ongoing research.

Feedback obtained at the previous edition included comments from Yui Izawa of Yokoito Inc, an exhibitor since 2023. “The aim of our participation is to raise the profile of post-processing machines and to meet the demand for an industrial process. We met high-profile visitors who have clear goals and are aware of the problems they face in surface treatment. We hope to continue exhibiting, not only in post-treatment but also in AM-related fields, next year and in subsequent years.”

Masaki Nakajima of Asahi Kasei Corporation, a first-time exhibitor, added, “On the first day, we were able to talk to visitors from the aerospace and automotive industries, which we had targeted; as a result, we exchanged business cards with over 80 companies in one day. We would like to continue exhibiting at this event as its visitors are in line with the customers with which we are looking to connect.”

Natsumi Hosobuchi of Castec Inc, visiting the exhibition for the third consecutive year, commented, “Every time we come to this exhibition, we can interact with the latest products and technologies, and we are likely to find information that will solve our company’s problems.”

The 2025 Forum will see experts converge from a wide range of industry sectors, including:

  • Solutions for Additive Manufacturing
  • Materials
  • Manufacturing preparation/pre-processing
  • Component processing/surface processing solutions/post-processing
  • Contract manufacturing/design/product development
  • Tool and die making
  • Software
  • Quality management/measurement
  • Certification and standards
  • Research and development (R&D)
