Cobra Golf launches MIM King Tour irons
October 22, 2020
Golf club manufacturer Cobra Golf, Carlsbad, California, USA, has launched a new line of its King Tour irons family, manufactured using Metal Injection Moulding (MIM). The company has been working with MIM for many years, adopting the technology first for its King MIM wedges in 2019 and most recently for its King MIM Black wedges.
The company explains that, by using MIM to produce its King Tour irons, the results show an unmatched consistency throughout the set and are said to be softer than any of their forged rivals. Cobra Golf stated that the use of MIM technology has reinvented the way premium irons are designed and manufactured.
The new MIM King Tour irons feature a tungsten weight in the toe, which helps to position the centre of gravity behind the hitting zone to aid forgiveness and stability at impact, thus helping to keep the golf ball on target. Additionally, a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) insert is incorporated behind the hitting zone, dampening vibrations and creating a smoother feel on impact.
Each iron is also said to benefit from Cobra Connect technology. Powered by Arccos, smart grips on each iron can be synced with the Arccos Caddie app, allowing players to track shot data.
“These irons are softer than any forged offerings on the market, and like their wedge counterparts, offer better consistency in shaping for more precision shot-making on the course,” stated Tom Olsavsky, vice president of R&D for Cobra Golf.
