The ororganisers of WorldPM2020, the World Congress on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, have released the full congress programme. The event is set to take place in Montréal, Canada, June 27–July 1, 2020, at the Montréal Convention Center.

Held every other year, and only once every six years in North America, WorldPM2020 is the largest global conference for Powder Metallurgy technologies, including metal Additive Manufacturing, press & sinter PM and tungsten, refractory and hardmaterials technology.

Conference attendees will have access to over 185 combined hours of technical content, including the co-located conferences Additive Manufacturing with Powder Metallurgy (AMPM2020) and the International Conference on Tungsten, Refractory & Hardmaterials (Tungsten2020).

AMPM2020 will bring together global experts presenting the latest developments in this fast-growing field, focusing on powder-based AM methods. Speakers at AMPM2020 will showcase the latest technical advances in AM materials, processes and applications.

Held every three years, Tungsten2020 will address recent developments in the tungsten, refractory, and hardmaterials field, encompassing processing, microstructure, properties, and applications.

More than 140 sessions and nearly 500 technical presentations are on the programme across the three co-located conferences. In addition, the accompanying trade exhibition will feature over 150 exhibitors from the PM, metal AM, and tungsten, refractory and hard metals industries, including equipment and powder suppliers alongside component manufacturers.

This year’s congress will feature two new networking luncheons adjacent to the trade exhibit, as well as an optional Metal AM Tutorial offering basic information and guidance on the use of metal powders in AM, including safety, handling and storage to maximise the quality of powders and performance of parts.

“Montréal is North America’s number one host city for international events,” stated James P Adams, Executive Director/CEO of the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF), which is co-organising WorldPM2020 along with APMI International.  “Combined with the region’s strong technology centre, delegates should leave Montréal with new ideas, industry contacts, and lasting memories.”

Regarding the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19), which has led to the cancellation or postponement of a high number of industry events in 2020, the MPIF stated that it has no present plans to cancel or postpone WorldPM2020. It will however follow the advice of the Center for Disease & Prevention Center (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and local and regional health organisations in the United States and Canada and their recommendations, and will post weekly updates to the conference website.
