Workshop on two-component powder injection moulding – progresses and industrial applications
February 4, 2009
The European Union STREP Project Consortium CarCIM dealing with “Integration of Two-Component Ceramic Injection Moulding for Large-Scale Production of Novel Multifunctional Ceramic Components for Automotive and Railway Applications” is organising a workshop on two-component powder injection moulding at the Fraunhofer IKTS in Dresden, Germany, June 24, 2009.
The aim of the workshop is to show the results of a three years research and development work in the field of two-component ceramic injection moulding [see PIM International, Vol.2 No.4 December 2008 p. 38]. Four functional components developed as case studies within the CarCIM project will be presented.
Furthermore, the workshop will cover the progress in two-component powder injection moulding of metal/metal and metal/ceramic material compounds, inmould-labeling and simulation of the PIM processing chain. Included will be non-destructive and functional testing of the injection moulded components.
