TAT Technologies LLC of St. Marys, Pennsylvania, USA, has announced that its popular Powder Metallurgy sintering courses will take place in September 2023. Designed to cover thermal processes in general and sintering processes in particular, the classes are limited in size to better facilitate interaction between student and lecturer and enable students a more hands-on approach to the classes’ experiments.

Course 1: Preparation for Better Sintering

September 12-15, 2023

TAT defines ‘Preparation for Better Sintering’ as “the complete delubing/debinding, reduction of all surface oxides on the iron or alloy particles, and complete diffusion of the admixed Graphite into the entire iron or alloy matrix.” The four-day course intends to prepare the student to perform a high-quality preparation of the entire part rather than ‘pre-heating’ the part.

Course 2: Sintering for Increased Throughput

September 18-21, 2023

TAT’s key objective for Course 2 is to provide students with solid, practical production-oriented knowledge of the conventional ferrous PM sintering process. By the end of this four-day course, students should be able to troubleshoot problems; optimise existing furnaces in a sustainable manner; and understand the role an individual variable plays on the resultant mechanical properties.

TAT Technologies has also announced that it is currently developing courses focused on stainless steel sintering and high-performance ferrous materials high-temperature sintering.

Early-bird registrations for the current courses are available via the website until August 25.
