Sweden’s Sandvik has announced that, to coincide with the opening of its metal powder Osprey® Online, it will hold a special edition of its interactive webinar Additive by Sandvik: Material Matters. Both will debut April 12, 2023.

“We are thrilled to offer this customer-centric solution, to provide our customers across the Additive Manufacturing industry with premium metal powders at any time,” stated Dr Andrew Coleman, Head of Sandvik’s Business Unit Powder. “We are painfully aware of the struggles to acquire timely deliveries of high-quality metal powders, to keep important AM projects from coming to a halt. We are very excited to be the go-to partner that can help our customers through that challenge – and many more.”

The metal powders initially available for online order include Osprey titanium powders, maraging steel, and nickel-based superalloys, as well as stainless steels such as duplex and super duplex, austenitic, martensitic, and precipitation hardening steels. Viewers of the special edition webinar are also presented with an in-depth presentation of a selection of the alloys offered from stock.

Luke Harris, Sales Director at Sandvik Additive Manufacturing, added, “Our webinar series has proven a much-appreciated way for us to connect with the additive market, with more than 260 000 viewers having seen the last episode. It offers in-depth insights into our expertise, operations, and product offering – as well as specific application areas and industries. This episode will provide our customers with everything they need to access metal powders via Osprey Online. It’s the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the new platform and our experts, and not least have a proper run-down of the metal powder alloys available from stock.”

The special edition of the webinar will take place over thirty minutes and, as well as explaining the shop, the company’s goal to drive the shift towards more sustainable manufacturing will also be described.

“Sustainability is an integrated part of our operations at Sandvik Additive Manufacturing,” Coleman concluded. “From manufacturing the powders in facilities powered by green electricity, to keeping strategic stock and avoiding air freight, the e-commerce business is definitely in line with our aim of driving the shift toward more sustainable manufacturing.”
