nd D2 tool steel filaments for use with its Metal X Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) Additive Manufacturing machine. The new filaments are reformulations of Markforged’s most popular tool steels and include an improved binder that is said to make them significantly more flexible and less brittle.

The updated H13 and D2 tool steel spools can be loaded into an unheated Metal X chamber, reducing startup and material changeover time. The new spools contain 400 cc of material, which is twice the amount found in the previous versions. This allows for more Additive Manufacturing to be done before needing to change spools.

The filament updates are expected to improve machine performance, while enabling future builds that expand the range of applications supported by the Metal X.
