The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec has invested $2 million in Maetta Sciences Inc. to assist with the deployment of its PIM technology for the industrial sectors, including aeronautics and medical products.

Maetta Sciences, based in Boucherville, has developed a new technology for the manufacturing of metal parts by powder injection molding in order to enhance prototyping and accelerate transferability to high-volume production. With this technology, it claims to set itself apart from the competition by offering the same characteristics as conventional molding, but at lower costs and with more flexible production rates.

‘Maetta has succeeded in adapting this technology so that it can be used right from the development stage and has made it accessible to industries whose annual production volumes do not justify conventional molding, which gives it a unique position on the market,’ stated Yves Cusson, the Caisse’s Vice-President, Investments, Mid-sized Businesses. ‘This competitive position, based on rapid development of complex products, is conducive to customer loyalty.’
