Linde LLC has announced it will present an overview of furnace atmospheres and provide practical troubleshooting techniques for improving Powder Metallurgy and Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) sintering processes at PowderMet 2016, June 6-8, Boston, USA.
Powder Metallurgy sintering requires a specific gas atmosphere in order to assist de-lubrication of green components and to avoid decarburisation during the sintering process. Linde claims to offer total atmosphere control in sintering of MIM and PM parts with its SINTERFLEX® Atmosphere Control System (ACS).
The presentation, Deep Dive in Furnace Atmosphere Basics and Practical Troubleshooting of PM and MIM Sintering Processes, is scheduled to take place during the Furnace Troubleshooting and Optimisation technical session on June 6 at 4:15 pm.

The SINTERFLEX ACS technology optimises the control of oxygen and carbon content in the sintering atmosphere. By establishing a carbon-neutral atmosphere during sintering, the system eliminates decarburisation, creating more uniform carbon content of sintered parts. The system also improves and optimises the total carbon input to the sintering furnace eliminating excessive carbon deposition which may affect the life of expensive furnace components.
