Launch issue of Metal Additive Manufacturing magazine now available to download
May 5, 2015
The launch issue of Metal Additive Manufacturing, the new quarterly magazine for the metal Additive Manufacturing industry, is now available to download from the publication’s dedicated website: www.metal-am.com
Available in both print (ISSN 2057-3014) and digital (ISSN 2055-7183) formats, Metal Additive Manufacturing brings together industry news and articles on technical and commercial developments in the industry. The publication of this new magazine follows the successful launch of the www.metal-am.com website in May 2014.
The 64 page launch issue includes a report on a recent visit to leading European metal AM parts producer Materials Solutions, based in Worcester, UK. Materials Solutions is a key supplier to the aerospace and high performance motorsport industries. In our exclusive report the company’s founder and Managing Director, Carl Brancher, shares his thoughts on the current status of the metal Additive Manufacturing industry and the opportunities and challenges ahead.
Also featured in this issue is an extensive report on component design considerations for powder bed fusion technologies. As Tim Richter, RSC Engineering GmbH, Germany, explains, this technology has the potential to fundamentally change the design process and appearance of new products. Designers must, however, be aware of all design considerations to maximise the potential of their products.
Jon Craxford, Sales Director at Inovar Communications, a publishing house with over twelve years of experience in the metal powder processing industries, commented, “We are delighted with the support that we have received from industry suppliers, component manufacturers, trade organisations and international industry events.”
In this issue
Metal Additive Manufacturing: Component design for successful commercial production
With Additive Manufacturing, the next generation of component fabrication technologies has arrived. No other technology, explains Tim Richter, of RSC Engineering GmbH, Germany, has the potential to change the design process and the appearance of new products so fundamentally. In this report for Metal Additive Manufacturing magazine, Richter shares his experiences in designing metal AM components for powder bed fusion based AM systems, explaining both the potential and the limitations of the process.
Materials Solutions: Expertise in metal Additive Manufacturing for the aerospace and motorsport industries
Materials Solutions Limited, located in Worcester, UK, is a world-class specialist in the Additive Manufacturing of functional parts using the Selective Laser Melting process. Dr David Whittaker reports for Metal Additive Manufacturing magazine on a visit to the company, where he spoke with founder and Managing Director, Carl Brancher.
MAMC 2014: Vienna’s Metal AM Conference reports on progress in a rapidly changing industry
More than 150 participants from 19 countries attended the Metal Additive Manufacturing Conference (MAMC), Vienna, November 20-21, 2014. The conference, organised by the Austrian Society for Metallurgy and Metals (ASMET) and voestalpine Edelstahl, reviewed the latest developments along the entire processing chain as well as novel applications. Prof. Bruno Buchmayr, Montanuniversität Leoben, and Prof. Juergen Stampfl, TU Wien, present an introduction to Additive Manufacturing and report on highlights from the MAMC 2014 conference.
