Registration for the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA)’s Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) Seminar closes today, January 9, 2019. The seminar will take place in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, February 11–12, 2019, and is this year titled: ‘Conventional HIP and Rapid Cool HIP: Developments in Material Property and Microstructural Relationships.’

The seminar programme will feature presentations and case studies from industry experts, as well as a site visit to Engineered Pressure Systems International (EPSI) in Temse, Belgium. The list of speakers and topics is as follows:

  • Influence of HIPing temperatures & cooling rate on the development of the properties of IN738LC, CM247LC and IN718, Professor Moataz Attallah, University of Birmingham
  • Excalibure centre presentation, Frédéric Bernard, Burgundy University
  • Multi-discipline CFD-FEM simulation of HIP with integrated Heat treatment of Cold Work Tool Steel D7, Carola Birke, IWM at RWTH Aachen University
  • The world market of metal powders & steels, status quo and outlook, Benedikt Blitz, SMR Premium GmbH
  • Advanced Argon Management for HIP Processes (an overview on HIP installations with customised argon supply solutions, from small R&D sized units up to large production units), Matthias Bors, Linde
  • Uniform Rapid Quenching (URQ) and High Pressure Heat Treatment of IN718: Effect on Microstructure, Johannes Gardstam, Quintus Technologies AB
  • How does HIPing influence properties of EBM-built Alloy 718, Professor Shrikant Joshi, University West (Sweden)
  • HIP sintering of different metallic powders, Yacine Kchaou, Burgundy University
  • The HIP parts for plastic machines, screws, cylinders and double cylinders. Production and materials. Existing HIP equipment at SPM with NADCAP qualification, Aaron Schutz, SPM
  • Powder HIPing of pure Nb as an alternative to C103 alloy for the manufacture of combustion thrusters, Alessandro Sergi, University of Birmingham
  • The role of high-pressure heat treatment in the automation of Additive Manufacturing post processing, Jim Shipley, Quintus Technologies AB
  • Overview of the required cooling types applied to typical metallurgical applications available for industrial HIP users, Maxime Pauwels, EPSI
