INDO-MIM highlights potential of aluminium oxide Ceramic Injection Molding

INDO-MIM, headquartered in Bangalore, India, has posted a short article discussing the use of aluminium oxide (Al2O3) in the Ceramic Injection Molding (CIM) production processes.

Aluminium oxide is a type of ceramic known for its high mechanical hardness, electrical resistivity, and thermal conductivity, explains INDO-MIM. It has strong and stiff properties, good resistance to wear and corrosion, thermal stability, low dielectric constant and loss tangent, low thermal expansion, and low weight. Even in complex geometries, the material offers high surface finish quality.

INDO-MIM noted that these qualities make it suitable for a variety of applications. Currently, alumina materials are used in engineering for sensor covers, sensor tubes, and microelectrodes for ultrasonic welding. The textile industry uses it for textile thread guides and wire guides, while the medical and dental fields use it for orthodontic brackets, dental implants, and prosthetic replacements.

The material is also used for precision watch gears, ceramic casting cores, automotive valves, electrical components, and inkjet printheads.

INDO-MIM added that recent research has proved that CIM alumina has great potential, as it is commonly used in advanced technologies such as micro-CIM and 2C-CIM applications.
