GKN Sinter Metals has produced a new video animation to demonstrate the metal injection moulding process.

The video covers the entire metal injection

moulding process

Dr Andreas Kubosch, Plant Manager of the GKN Sinter Metals MIM plant in Bad Langensalza, Germany, told PIM International, “We created this animation for our customers, as well as for all those who are interested in learning more about the unique metal injection moulding process.”

‘The MIM Production Process’ can be seen in the video gallery of the GKN Sinter Metals website. The video provides an excellent overview of the entire MIM production process from the blending of metal powders and binders, to the injection moulding of green parts and the catalytic debinding and sintering of the components.

Detailed animations clearly show the various stages

“Explaining the production process in a simple and comprehensible way was one of the main objectives that we focused on during the production. But the special highlight of the clip certainly is that the viewer gets an insight into what is happening within the component at a molecular level, as it moves though the debinding and sintering process,” added Kubosch.
