Forward AM launches contest to develop new AM applications

January 28, 2021

Forward AM, an Additive Manufacturing solutions brand of BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH, headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany, has launched the Forward AM Innovation Award, a global contest for startups developing new applications with Additive Manufacturing.

The company explains that the objective of the contest is to accelerate the adoption of AM, by supporting the work of entrepreneurs, originators of innovative, sustainable and scalable ideas that leverage the unique possibilities of AM.

The contest is sponsored by industry leaders that include AMPOWER, AMT, Autodesk, HP, Photocentric, Sculpteo, and Ultimaker. It is also supported by AM Ventures, BASF Venture Capital GmbH, Deloitte and Women in 3D Printing. Each will contribute their expertise to the contest and, alongside Forward AM, will select the startups, provide expert coaching sessions, and grant the winners access to their catalogue of products and services for a total of €185,000.

Finalists of the Forward AM Innovation Award will receive €20,000 in goods and services, along with premium industry connections, coaching, and marketing exposure. During the finals of the contest, the winning startup will receive the grand prize of €80,000 in goods and services to choose from the sponsors’ catalogue. The winner will also have the opportunity to meet the venture capitalists of AM Ventures and BASF Venture Capital GmbH in a dedicated personal session.

The contest is flanked by two further awards: The Deloitte Sustainability Award which offers €10,000 in cash to the startup with the best sustainability strategy, while the Public’s Choice Award will reward the startup that wins the audience’s vote at the finals with an extra €15,000 in goods and services.

The deadline for applications is March 28, 2021.
