Epson Atmix begins construction of its new metal powder plant

Seiko Epson Corporation (“Epson,”TSE: 6724) has announced that group company Epson Atmix Corporation has begun construction of its new Kita-Inter Plant.
Epson Atmix, located in Hachinohe-shi, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, states that it is the world’s largest manufacturer of superfine alloy powder, based on FY2011 annual sales.
The company is investing 3.2 billion yen to triple its current production capacity to 10,000 tons of superfine alloy powder. The new plant is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2013.
The new plant will produce both Metal injection Moulding (MIM) grade powder and magnetic powder.
