Alpha Precision Group (APG), St Mary’s, Pennsylvania, USA, a metal-forming technology company that provides conventional Powder Metallurgy, high-temperature stainless steel PM, Metal Injection Moulding and Additive Manufacturing components, has posted a blog outlining a design guide for Metal Injection Moulding.

The guide provides an overview of the chief design criteria to be considered in order to meet quality requirements:

  1. Part orientation
  2. Gate positioning
  3. Witness marks
  4. Surface
  5. Draft angles
  6. Sag effect
  7. Wall thickness
  8. Surface area
  9. Corner breaks & fillets
  10. Holes & slots

APG is comprised of five manufacturing plants located in Pennsylvania and Michigan, with over 400 team members and was acquired by Nichols Portland, Inc, headquartered in Portland, Maine, USA, earlier this year.

Further details of the guide are available via the blog here.
