Advanced Powder Products expands Metal Injection Molding (MIM) production facilities

October 16, 2010

Advanced Powder Products, Inc. (APP) has broken ground on a 5,100 sq. ft. expansion to its headquarters and manufacturing facility in Philipsburg, PA, USA. The expansion will approximately double APP’s manufacturing space and will also include an enlarged and upgraded QC lab, and additional engineering offices, conference rooms and employee support areas. The expansion is expected to be completed in the 4th quarter of 2010 and will support APP’s plans to increase its manufacturing staff during fiscal 2011.

An architect’s preview of APP’s new MIM facilities

Don Kupp, Business Development Engineer at APP told PIM International, “The added space will immediately enhance our manufacturing work flow and productivity, while providing space for future equipment acquisitions. The expanded manufacturing area will allow for the addition of one continuous furnace for micro-part manufacturing and additional batch sintering furnaces. This space will also allow room for additional injection moulding machines and secondary operations equipment. Additional injection moulding machines, debinding/sintering furnaces and related manufacturing equipment are currently being evaluated with purchase and installation planned for early 2011”.
