Arburg, headquartered in Lossburg, Germany, has released its 2023 Sustainability Report.

Through its use of heat recovery, photovoltaics, wind power, geothermal energy and the exclusive use of regional ‘green’ electricity, Arburg stated that it has established a 100% sustainable energy management system. Between 2010 and 2023, these and many other measures saved a reported total of over 125,000 metric tonnes of CO2.

In its latest report, Arburg highlighted the following figures:

  • 74% of all waste generated in 2023 was recycled as part of its efforts to achieve a circular economy
  • Rainwater collected in a number of cisterns accounted for 20.5% of total water consumption in 2023
  • In 2023, Arburg’s electricity mix had an 88% smaller carbon footprint than the German electricity mix
  • 15% of its renewable energy was self-generated
  • The company is certified five times over in accordance with ISO 9001, 14001, 29993, 50001 and 27001 for quality, environment, energy, training and IT security.
  • Arburg continues to be rated with an above-average ‘B’ by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
  • Greenhouse gas reduction targets for 2030 in Scopes 1, 2 and 3 that the company is pursuing as part of its climate strategy have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
  • Received a Gold Medal from Ecovadis

For the first time, the company also published a report in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards for small- and medium-sized enterprises, governments and non-governmental organisations. This facilitates continuous and transparent dialogue on an international level with all relevant stakeholders. The aim is to standardise the facts and figures collected so that they can be compared.
