Lithoz GmbH, based in Vienna, Austria, is set to premiere the latest addition to its range of ceramic Additive Manufacturing machines – the CeraFab System S320 at Formnext, scheduled to take place scheduled to take place in Frankfurt, Germany, from November 19-22.

The new machine is based around Lithoz’s ceramic LCM technology, a form of Vat Photopolymerisation Additive Manufacturing. The S320 has the largest build platform of any Lithoz LCM machine, and is five times larger than the company’s CeraFab System S65.

With its 245 x 130 x 320 mm building envelope, a resolution of 60 μm and a 4K projection system, the new S320 is well-suited to the efficient industrial production of mid-size technical ceramic parts.

Visitors will be able to examine a showcase of ceramic components manufactured on the S320, including single segments of a 380 mm (15”) diameter alumina gas distribution ring from Alumina Systems, used in the semiconductor manufacturing industry. The ring performs more effectively than those produced via conventional methods thanks to the design freedom of Additive Manufacturing, which enables a lightweight and thin-walled structure.

Other mid-sized parts that will be highlighted include intricate casting cores for the construction of ever more efficient turbine blades and industrial filter devices. Medical and dental components will also be on display, including a replica of a zirconia subperiosteal jaw implant. This implant made history earlier this year when it became the first of its kind to be successfully implanted in a surgical procedure.
