Epson-Atmix metal powder production expected to resume at the end of April, MIM parts business to start up again early April.

Epson-Atmix has issued a statement confirming that its metal powder production operations are expected to resume at the end of April. The company is a leading supplier of water atomised metal powders for the international Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) industry.

The company also stated that its MIM parts business is expected to re-start production from early April. The company is the largest producer of MIM parts in Japan.

The company’s full statement, issued on 31 March 2011, reads:

“We sincerely express our sympathy for the victims of the earthquake and wish for early recovery.

Since the earthquake on March 11, we have been gathering safety information of our employees, examining damage to our production facilities and making an effort for early recovery. The following is an update notice on the impact of the earthquake and outlook on the future production.

 We continue every effort for to resume operation at the earliest possible and appreciate your understanding for the situation and inconvenience to our customers and suppliers.

 

1. Safety of the employees

Thankfully, there were no personnel injuries among our employees.

2. Damage to the production facilities and outlook on the future production

The electric power supply has been resumed on March 31.

 

Metal Powder Business

The production facilities were severely damaged by Tsunami flood, and the operation is expected to resume around the end of April.

MIM Business

Damage to the production facilities was not serious, and the operation is expected to resume one by one from early in April.

Synthetic Quartz Crystal Business

Damage to the production facilities was not serious, and the operation is expected to resume one by one from early in April.”
