Smith Metal Products to present its latest MIM capabilities at IMTS

Smith Metal Products, Center City, Minnesota, USA, will offer a preview of its capabilities for the Metal Injection Moulding of parts with complex geometries in high production volumes at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago, Illinois, USA, September 10-15, 2018. The company’s MIM materials include stainless steels, low alloy steels and titanium.
Smith Metal Products stated that it operates a number of the latest electric moulding machines as well as continuous and batch debind and sintering furnaces, solvent debinding systems, 5-axis CNC machining and grinding centers, ceramic kilns, coining, laser etching/engraving machinery and an inspection lab.
In addition to MIM, the company provides rapid prototyping and services including plating, laser etching and engraving, heat treatment, surface finishing and polishing, assembly, final pack out and custom automation. Tool building has been a core technology at Smith since its beginning in 1957, and the company provides multi-cavity, hot runner and unscrewing mould design and build.
The company operates a 65,000 ft2 facility that is ISO 9001:2008 certified and ISO 13485 compliant. A controlled documentation system assures customers of consistent set-up and repeatability on every production run.
