The webinar will be led by a team from Adva Cera, Broomfield, Colorado, USA, a service provider of additively manufactured technical ceramics that works with customers to incorporate Design for AM (DfAM) principles at prototype- and production-scale quantities. Hugh Roberts, Adva Cera President; Dustin Williams, VP – Business Development; and Adriana Joyce, Research & Development Engineer will explore how Additive Manufacturing is impacting the future of technical ceramics and how to design the right part for an application.
According to America Makes, ceramic Additive Manufacturing technology has historically lacked the maturity and investment opportunity seen in metal and polymer, but recent advancements have led to the technology scaling.
Printing the Right Parts will focus on Vat Photopolymerisation method of digital light processing (DLP). DLP is said to offer greater design freedom, short layer times, and high-resolution builds and is capable of producing complex features that are unachievable through traditional ceramic manufacturing. Some of these AM-enabled features (i.e., lattices and complex internal features) may be leveraged to make ceramic components lighter, more efficient, and more functional than their traditionally manufactured counterparts.
The webinar will delve into some fundamental rules of design for ceramic Vat Photopolymerisation Additive Manufacturing, looking at features found in thermal management and filtration components to highlight design best practices. Attendees will learn about achievable features, support requirements, and critical faces, as well as how to minimise stress and defects during thermal post-processing.
