Claus Emmelmann to step down as Director of Fraunhofer IAPT

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Claus Emmelmann, Director of The Fraunhofer Research Institution for Additive Manufacturing Technologies (IAPT) is to step down from his role. 

The role of director will be held by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Ralf-Eckhard Beyer while a new director is agreed with the Executive Board of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (Fraunhofer Society) and the TUHH, in order to successfully develop  the IAPT over the next ten years. 

Emmelmann commented, “I would like to thank the President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft for having agreed to my request to be released from my office as head of the institute for personal reasons as of June 2020, so that I can devote myself to new challenges.”

He continued, “As acting director of the Institute for Laser and System Technologies (iLAS) at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), I will continue to support the Fraunhofer IAPT in the future and will actively support the research and training of potential scientific staff at the TUHH for the Fraunhofer IAPT.”
