The German debinding furnace manufacturer Lömi was established in 1991 as a manufacturer of solvent recycling units. The company quickly identified Powder Injection Moulding (PIM) as a potential market and since 2001 has been supplying injection moulding debinding units with considerable success.

Lömi’s Ralf Wegemann told PIM International that the company’s steady growth is a result of a comprehensive understanding of the PIM debinding process, an understanding based on many years of collaborative research with German universities and research centres. The company also works closely with feedstock and metal and ceramic injection moulded part producers. Lömi’s main market is currently Europe, but units are now also operating in Australia, Russia, India and Singapore. Customer support is available via remote maintenance using a modem or through local service partners.

Debinding units range from 50 to 2,500 litres and are capable of debinding parts made with solvent-based and water-based feedstock systems. Small throughput units and units for start-up operations feature a combined debinding and distillation system in one unit. Advantages are the minimal floor space and the small investment. For larger capacity requirements, two-unit-systems are available consisting of a debinding unit and a separate distillation unit. Both systems can be extended on a modular basis. The company also develops tailor-made units specific to customer requirements.

Lömi is a member of the German MIM Experts Circle (Expertenkreis) under the direction of the Fraunhofer Institute (IFAM) in Bremen. Prospective customers are welcome to run trials at IFAM on a Lömi unit.
